Sitting Up

Yup, another stepping block out of the way. Our little girl is sitting up all on her own now! She's still a little wobbly especially when something beyond arm's length catches her eye...then it's London Bridge... :)

The first video isn't white balanced, so excuse the shoddy filmmaking.

On an unrelated note, this weekend, Emily and I spent a full day out with Connor and E.E. again. We had a blast, but two things happened...1) While in the store, I noticed there were so many people around it wasn't enough to just see the cart in my direct vision. It wasn't even good enough to see the car seat that Emily was in. Nope, I had to have the little girl herself in my vision at all times. I will admit there were occasions that I walked around the cart to maneuver it better, but I was frightened that anyone could actually walk up and take the baby. It was scary...

Ok, so 2) All my baby books warned me that random people may come up, especially older women, and give unsolicited advice. Not that it hasn't happened, but I almost caught myself doing it! There was a lady with a baby and a preteen strolling the aisles. When she passed us, we exchanged glances towards our babies and smiled in that familiar camaraderie way. However, her little baby was sleeping soundly with a bottle propped up right in his mouth! Maybe it was the overdeveloped sense of mommy-mind...maybe the fact I had just read in one of my many new-mommy books about baby bottle mouth...maybe my insecure need to pronounce that I was a supermommy now, listen and kowtow to my vast baby care knowledge!....I dunno, but it took a GREAT deal of effort not to speak in a very stern tone and say "You know, you really shouldn't do that. You're not supposed to put a baby to sleep with a bottle. It'll ruin his teeth! And besides that, aren't you afraid he'll choke? Aren't you going to remove it? (pause) Well?" *sigh* I'm just glad I was restrained enough not to embarrass myself.

  1. Look at that little girl! How cool is it that she's sitting up! Soon she and Connor will be playing patty-cake together, instead of just holding hands. They grow up so fast!

I know what you mean about wanting to offer unsolicited parenting advice. Heck, I told you about seeing that mom give her baby soda while we were at the restaraunt. It was so hard not to say something!
