"I can handle this. I AM a Supermom."
Murphy is not my friend. His mean little experiments of the universe arrived today. (No worries, I eventually found it so funny that I must blog!)
The day starts
Woke up at 6:30AM to make biscuits from scratch for my hubby who had an extra early meeting. With mom and dad's extra moving around, the girls woke up early too. Emily had a successful potty trip before we left the house then off we went to Rock-n-Rhyme Babytime at the library. Emily took her own "baby" to participate with.
At the Library
Class was awesome, but a little chaotic. There were a lot of friendly babies today. Emily was doing the rhymes with her baby and Lizzie was smiling at everyone. Jeannine and Jaime were there today too! Bonus! After the storytime, we head out into the children's library proper where I have forgotten to remove the Elmo toy from Elizabeth's carrier. Please note, this Elmo toy, while wonderful and one of Elizabeth's favorites, it has no off switch and no volume control. Embarrassing! Y'know, once it's played, any parent should tolerate, if not understand, but when the PARENT who owns it is the one accidentally playing it over and over...
While trying to exit quickly, I feel as if I've forgotten something...hmmm...
Errands
Stopped at the bank to check balances and see if we could do a lunch at McD's and some playground time for Emily because she had been a little restricted with the babies around. While in the car, she asked for her cup. We were in a long ATM line, so I went ahead and gave it to her to finish off the last inside. "Okay, be very careful with this because it doesn't have a lid." "Okay, mom." Mommy hands it off to the back seat too quickly and tips the remaining liquid into Emily's lap. "I'm so sorry Emily! That was mommy's fault!" "No, no! That was my fault." Embarrassing yourself and then having an extremely gracious daughter...it was "special" in so many ways.
Then off we go to Publix for Lizzie's medicine, first ear infection, and some baby food on BOGO sale. Emily grabbed one of the REALLY expensive jars and was handing it up to show to me and dropped it. Explaining to the clerk that I'd be happy to pay for this, but to please throw it away now was Embarrassing thing #3 today. Leaving quickly AGAIN, I feel like I'm forgetting something AGAIN....
Lunch
Stopped at McD's on Main Street with the outdoor playground (THANK GOODNESS). Sat down with food at the table and I notice Emily has gotten really quiet..."Emily, do you need to go potty?" I ask. Long pause. She shakes her head and shifts on the bench. I look around the end of the table to see a large puddle under her on the bench and the ground. Yup, I've forgotten to take her to the potty. I have to use the last of my wipes to mop up and get her changed. Luckily the playground is pretty much empty so I can do this without leaving it. We eat and play and have a good time. While I'm playing with Em, Lizzie starts squealing because she has made her own dirty diaper. Explosive. It's all over her. And the car seat cover. It has even worked it's way through the openings in the seat to get into the foam AND the underside belts.
Here's a quick look into my thought process:
Oh, this is a mess...better clean it up. Wait. I'm out of wipes. I thought I had another pack in here. Nope. No extra wipes. None. I DO have is a water bottle. Okay, let's improvise: napkins! I need lots of napkins! Number one: clean baby, change baby, dress baby. Number two: clean car seat. Number three: Bag it all. Um, no powder-scent bags. Ok, acquire bags to separate dirty from clean clothes. (I pick up both girls because Emily's shoes were forfeited to the first accident.) Emily says "I need to go potty". Oh no. Please no. Yup. Another accident. A stinky one. Is that what I think it is on the floor? Yes. Yes it is...
Ah well...Yes, I'm still out of wipes and bags, but I'm NOT out of clothes or humor! Ok, to the bathroom to clean up one more time. We made it home before anything else happened!
Today's Lessons

In summary, these are the lessons that I've learned today:
- You can never carry enough baby wipes.
- When you are out of supplies, it's time to go home.
- ALWAYS use the potty immediately when you arrive and immediately before you leave.
- Take a potty training partner when you are out and about. You may then trade the watching and fetching duties.
- Stock the car with emergency wipes, bags, and shoes.
- If things your children do are not embarrassing you multiple times a day, you may not be doing it right.
- Your children will always throw something new at you.
