Busy Busy Busy

Well, we've been...busy. Busy, busy. Every week we go swimming, to the library, a playdate, to the church, and then, whatever else we get into is a bonus! Like today. Today we took Elizabeth to her first movie (where she was awake). "How to Train Your Dragon" was playing at Carmike for a discount price.

But this summer has been full of new experiences, new lessons for parents and children...and just...busy! The surprising part...it's not even over! Next week is Bible Adventure Week at church. (Also known as VBS) Emily will be participating in the toddler class for her second year. Mom and Dad will be operating puppets in the opening program, and Lizzie, she's just gonna wonder where her family is every night....and this is followed by a family vacation. Who knows what else we'll squeeze in...

a field trip to "Touch A Truck"

However, I can't forget to mention that as an educator, I'm falling a bit behind because our usual crafty activities aren't keeping Em's interest. Lizzie is just now getting interested in stickers. I'll be looking for more ideas there.

Granted that field trips to see interesting things, like big trucks, and fishing lessons from Pa Pa are extremely educational, I'm hoping something along the lines of responsibilities and taking care of your things comes into play.

I do like the way Emily is learning to interact with other children. We have our scuffles with toy sharing, but the pushing and shoving are minimal. Our worst problem right now is grabbing. Emily also displays a WONDERFUL imagination. We'll go to an indoor playground with rivers and rocks painted on the floor and she'll hop the rocks trying to keep away from the river sharks.

Playdate to the park for chalk drawing.
Another first, we got caught on a long day. It started to sprinkle a bit while we were outside blowing bubbles, so I just let them play in the rain. The sun was shining, it was a fun experience. Lizzie enjoyed watching the flow of water from the gutters.

Our Fourth of July activities were lots of fun. We went all out with a picnic and grabbing front row seats to the fireworks at the park. Emily enjoyed her first pony ride and carnival ride on the swings. Lizzie was a bit apprehensive about the noise and the lights, but enjoyed it all that much more.

We're looking forward to finding out who's joining our family soon. Baby D will be revealed in a few weeks! See you then!
