Emily-isms

I just wanted to write about my oldest daughter, Emily. It'd be awesome if any of you added your own little story about her.

Emily picked some dandelions for me. Later she shredded them in her lap on our way home.

Emily likes to play pretend games about animal rescues, tea parties, horse races, and kitchen games. She likes her dress up dolls. She likes to decorate cupcakes with as many sprinkles as possible. She likes to make button strings and that usually includes pulling out ten spools of thread, lining them up and setting a button on top of each one. Today she told me it was her button puzzle. She likes to pillow fight with her sister in the evenings. In the mornings she talks to Elizabeth and keeps her company until mom and dad wake up. This usually includes giving her another doll blanket or sharing her own sleepy buddies. (I'm hoping this is only half and hour, but apparently they like to play together before waking up mom and dad so there's really no telling.)

She likes to use her manners on occasion. She has chores besides putting her toys away. She folds her underpants, matches socks, and pulls sheets off the bed followed by putting all her sleepy buddies back in place. (Thanks go to Rachel M. for inspiring in me the idea that 3 y/o's should be able to do something.) When she's in the mood, she'll help me put clean silverware away.

She likes to make silly faces to cheer people up. Sometimes I'll say so-in-so isn't feeling well today. Immediately, she'll say, "I can cheer them up!" Then she shows me one of these. (to the left)

She cares about animals, but doesn't want to touch any except Hadjers. This surprises me because she's cornered him twice and forced him into retaliating. Nothing to worry about...just a lesson learned. She doesn't corner him anymore. In fact, today I caught her telling Lizzie not to do it, in a nice way, of course.

She enjoys her Sunday school lessons. Easter made a big impact on her because she's told me that Jesus died on a cross. I found that impressive for a three year old. Perhaps one day she'll be able to tell me the rest of the story. I'm looking forward to that. She has no problem telling people about Jesus. We were at the Booth museum, riding in the stagecoach with two older girls. She says "Hey! I have to tell you something! About Jesus!" That's the end of her speech, but I liked it. It's more than I could do. She likes to sing "Jesus Loves Me" and I was surprised that she remembered a few words to "He Lives" during the Easter service.

Don't get me wrong, this little angel ain't all sugar, spice and everything nice. She's got a temper. We usually have at least one timeout per day. Mostly about throwing fits because she doesn't want to clean-up, eat when everyone else does, etc. She'll pitch a fit about anything, clothing she changed her mind about, food she decided she doesn't want, sharing toys, not being able to decide which floor we play on at any particular hour. Today was one of my favorites. I was upstairs talking to Len and let Em know she could come up and even play with my jewelry and "planets" (marbles). She whined and asked if I would come down the stairs and carry her up. Not wait for her, carry her......I walked away. She made it up the stairs just fine.

She likes to wear dresses lately and to play dress up with her princess costumes or her animal masks. Her favorite shoes are her sandals, but next week, who knows?

I'm looking forward to see what other stories you guys might have. It's easy to post, you don't have to login or have an account, just post a comment below.

Just for fun, here are some things Emily says:
1. "Don't get-for me!" (Don't forget me. Usually during Lizzie's lullaby when I sing "Don't you fear, big sister's here.")
2. "No! I TOLL you!" (No! I told you! Usually after I doubt something she says she sees.)
3. "Actuawee." (Actually. She's picked this up from me. She told Gran-Gran that she could sit on the big potty, actuawee.)
4. Her sister's name is "Wizbeff"
