We had an Elmo themed party at our place and invited several of Emily's friends from play groups. Lucky for us we had just enough room. Amazing how much space disappears when there are toddlers in the room.
Guests arrived to see red and yellow streamers decorating the front door and the hallway. We had some fun multi-colored, worm-shaped balloons that were a big hit; a fine spread of fruits, veggies, Nutella and Ranch dips, mixed nuts, and beef/cream cheese rolls with sodas and juice before blowing out the candles on Elmo & chocolate-topped cupcakes.
While waiting for a few remaining guests, mom read birthday-themed storybooks to entertain the short crowd. (They came highly recommended from the librarian who directs Babytime at the library, Doreen). Emily opened her presents with glee. Among them were a new outfit, stroller, puzzles, crayons, a giant coloring book, musical coloring pad, rocking horse, and several stuffed animals. A funny moment came while opening her Alphabet-Caterpillar. It looked so large coming out of the box, it scared her. (Of course, today, Alpha-Pillar sleeps with Em in the bed after a long day of pretending he's a horse.)
Afterwards, the party broke up but not before enjoying the wonderful October weather with a session of blowing bubbles outside! Thank you so much to all the attendees for your gifts and wonderful company!
