Well, as the work is getting less and less, the days I do spend at work are made so much better when I come home to pickup Emily at daycare. I do enjoy working very much, every time I get work. However, I do miss Emily and spending time with her. I wonder how E.E. does it, being a single mom...I imagine that as soon as she's off of work, she picks up Connor, feeds him, and puts him to bed after some minimal time spent playing...It's crazy...
On a completely different note: Emily scared me a bit this week. I turned around and she had a pencil in her hand. (Of course, if you live around us, you know we NEVER let Emily have pens/pencils/pointy writing utensils.) As I rush over to get it, she sticks it in her mouth! She makes a grimace on her face and throws the pencil down. I now see that there is no lead in the pencil tip. (It's one of those wooden pencils.) So immediately I'm thinking "OMG! She's swallowed pencil lead!!! Phone! Phone! Gotta call the doctor! I forgot my phone today! I don't have the doctor's number! 911! Call 911!" So I did...to which they said (abbreviated) they would send a team out immediately but considering she's not wheezing, fainting, vomitting or even coughing nothing probably will happen but you do need to get her checked out soon." Upon hearing this I rushed over to the pediatrician. So, I come to find out 20 agonizing minutes later that they haven't made pencils with lead in years. Many, many years. And again, no wheezing, no excessive drooling, no coughing, no pain when pushing her tummy. Lungs and tummy sound great and her ear infection is even healing up. She'll be fine.
Needless to say, I got some weird, yet sympathetic, looks on my way out of the office and down to the car because tears were running down my cheeks.
*sigh*
Toddlers.
